How to Change JioFi Password & WiFi(SSID) Name

JioFi is a personal hotspot device that can accommodate smartphones and laptops to access the 4G high-speed internet provided by Jio. However, the internet speed provided by JioFi router may decrease if a lot of people are connected to it at the same time. Also, it could be that your password is known to a huge number of people resulting in low internet speed. The best option you have at hand is to change JioFi password and your JioFi Wifi name. How to Change JioFi Password and Name

  • Connect your device to JioFi.
  • Open a web browser and go to “http://jiofi.local.html“.
    (If you are using a JioFi dongle then open “jiodongle.local.html” instead.)
  • Click on ‘Login’ option at the top right corner.
  • Enter ‘administrator’ as the username and the password.
  • Then, navigate to the ‘WiFi settings’ which you will find under the ‘Settings’ tab.
  • Change the password and SSID name here as per your wish.

Once you finish to change JioFi password and WiFi name, click on ‘Save’ to save the new password. Congratulations! now you have successfully changed your jiofi password by following the above steps. We always recommend you to use a very strong password for any of device.

That’s it! The password of your JioFi router will automatically update. However, all the devices connected to your JioFi router will disconnect. So now you will have to enter the new password to reconnect your devices to your JioFi router. Below you can read the step-by-step guide to change JioFi password and name of the network. This guide is applicable to anyone who doesn’t have much experience with computer and routers in general.

The Detailed Step-by-Step Guide (What We Are Doing)

#1 Switch on your JioFi router: The initial step is to power on your JioFi router. Hold the power button till the device is on. Be patient till the router is completely on and ready to use.

#2 Connect a device to your JioFi router: Now, connect your smartphone or laptop to your JioFi router over WiFi. If you haven’t changed the username and the password of your JioFi router, then you will find the default username and password on the back of its box, or at the back of the device. But, if you have changed it before then you will have to enter your own password.

#3 Access the configuration page to manage the JioFi’s settings: To access the configuration page, launch a web browser on the device which you have connected to the JioFi router in the above step. Then, enter ‘http://jiofi.local.html‘ or ‘‘ in the search bar and hit the search option.

#4 Login to the settings page of your JioFi router: When you search for the URL provided in the above step, you will arrive at a login page. Here, you will find two fields. Namely, username and password. Type in ‘administrator’ in both the fields and click on the ‘Login’ option which will be located below the fields.

#5 Set a new password: Now, to change the password, click on Network >> Wi-Fi Configuration. You will then see a displayed list of options such as Status, Channel, Encryption, etc. As you go down, you will find an option with the name ‘Password.’ Here, you can enter any password that you prefer. Once you are done entering your password, click on ‘Save’ to keep the changes which you have made.
